Planning Consent for 36-38 Berkeley Square
A scheme for the redevelopment of 36-38 Berkeley Square by Piercy&Co for Astrea Asset Management secured a resolution to grant planning consent from Westminster City Council on 14th April 2020.
Stuart Piercy, Founding Director of Piercy&Co said: “Inspired by the beautifully detailed proportions of its historic neighbours, we developed an architectural language of subtly contrasting different beds of roached Portland stone with precise horizontal courses of cast white masonry. We were interested in exploring ideas of depth, surface texture and the monumentality of stone.
Balancing the historic context with the ambition for a beautiful, sustainable and humane workspace drove the design of the building from the inside out. This is articulated through light filled workspaces, natural materials and triple aspect views onto terraced gardens and over the historic roofscapes of Mayfair.”
The elevation to Farm Street, historically a mews street for the grand properties on Berkeley Square, responds to this more intimate scale by stepping the massing down and using an earthy deep red-toned cast masonry to relate to the red brick of its neighbours.
